Professor Tony Paolini MPsych (Clin Neuro), PhD, MAPS
Professor Tony Paolini is President and CEO of ISN Psychology and a member of the Board of Directors. A founding Director of the Institute for Social Neuroscience, he is both a psychologist and internationally recognised neuroscientist with qualifications in Clinical Neuropsychology (MPsych) and Neuroscience (PhD).
Under the mentorship of Professor Graeme Clark, he led the Auditory Clinical Neuroscience Unit at the Bionic Ear Institute. He has since published widely, secured major research funding from the NHMRC and ARC, and led large multidisciplinary teams. His internationally recognised work spans medical bionics, sensory and cognitive neuroscience, and behavioural and social neuroscience.
At ISN, Professor Paolini applies his expertise to explore how environments shape behaviour and mental health, with a particular focus on the role of anxiety in sensory perception. His research informs treatments for heightened sound sensitivity and tinnitus distress.
He previously served as Professor and Head of Psychology at RMIT University, Senior Principal Research Fellow at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, and currently holds adjunct positions at La Trobe University.
