Review Pathways
Find the right level of review for your project.
All research involving human participants requires ethical review and clearance prior to commencement of data collection.
The HREC process is designed to be proportionate to risk.
Researchers should seek advice early, especially where projects involve sensitive topics, clinical populations, children and young people, or identifiable information.
ISN Human Research Ethics Committee operates in accordance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2025). The ISN HREC Standard Operating Procedures supports good ethics review and address the matters required by the National Statement.
Applications and enquiries can be submitted to ethics@isn.edu.au. Researchers should use the current forms and templates and should not commence human research recruitment or data collection until written ethics clearance has been issued.
