Emeritus Professor Peter Lee

Chair, College Council

Professor Peter Lee is an experienced senior executive of large organisations that have complex stakeholder environments. Peter’s unique combination of technical excellence and understanding of human and stakeholder psyche means he has regularly been called upon to guide corporate, government and non-government organisations. He was the Vice Chancellor at Southern Cross University for seven years after having held senior positions at the University of South Australia, Curtin

University of Technology, Murdoch University and the University of Queensland.

 

He has served on a number of Corporate, University, Research and Government Boards, including the peak body, Universities Australia, for which he was Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk committee. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has detailed understanding of a vast range of industries including chemical, petrochemical, agriculture, mineral processing, advanced material, food, pharmaceutical, software development and biotechnological industries.

 

Professor Lee’s engineering pedigree is unsurpassed. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and of Engineers Australia. He was named as one of the most influential engineers in Australia for 13 years and has been awarded the Centenary Medal for services to Australian society.

 

Peter holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and a PhD from Monash University, and a Honorary Doctor of Laws from Monash University. He has authored four books and 270 journal papers.

 

Professor Lee manages his own consulting company, and provides services to government and non- government agencies, including the United Nations Development Organisation. He currently Chairs the Board of Directors of the Australian College of Physical Education and the Liverpool Football Club (UK) International Academy Australia.

Emeritus Professor Joyce Kirk

Independent Member, Chair of Academic Board

Professor Joyce Kirk is a highly experienced higher education consultants pecialising in quality assurance, governance, and international education. Her consultancy work is grounded in extensive senior leadership experience, including roles as Chair of the Academic Board and Dean at UTS, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students) at RMIT University, and interim positions such as President of RMIT Vietnam and Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the University of New England.

 

She has made significant contributions to institutional and program reviews, audits, and accreditation assessments across public universities and private providers in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific. Her expertise draws on her experience as an Honorary Auditor with the Australian Universities Quality Agency and engagements through her listing on the Tertiary Education Quality and Standard Agency Register of Experts.  Professor Kirk has served as an expert reviewer with the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science andTechnology in Papua New Guinea, the Academic Quality Agency for New Zealand Universities, the Vanuatu Qualifications Authority and the Samoa Qualifications Authority.

 

In Australia Professor Kirk has carried out reviews of academic and corporate governance for more than ten universities and several Higher Education Institutes in five Australian states and territories, working at times in partnership with experts.  She has also carried out reviews of compliance with international education legislation and standards for several universities and Higher Education Institutes, again in partnership.  Professor Kirk hasbeen involved in the assessment of regulatory and standards compliance on behalf of professional accreditation bodies in fields as diverse as medicine, optometry, dietetics and information management.

Currently Professor Kirk is a member of the Council and Audit and Risk Committee of Charles Sturt University,  a member of the College Council and Chair of the Academic Board of ISN Psychology and a member of the Academic Board and Chair of the Course Advisory Committee of the Australian National Institute of Management and Commerce (IMC).

Philippa Taylor

Philippa Taylor is an experienced non-executive director and Chair of People, Culture and Nomination Committees and brings considerable experience from sitting on boards in B2C organisations across different sectors, including financial services, professional services, recreation, tourism, international development, e-commerce, technology, and education. She has also been a mentor with Leadership Victoria in their Women’s Board Leadership program, and Culturally Diverse Women Leader’s program, as well as mentoring member boards through the NDIS introduction.Philippa has also been a professional advisor for the past 12+ years, with a successful track record with Boards, CEOs and leadership teams on various governance, risk and people-related matters, including digital transitions and workforce implications. She has worked with federal, state, and local governments, not-of-profits, ASX listed and commercial organisations of every size, in various stages of maturity and often undergoing significant transformation.Prior to this, Philippa held several C-Suite roles as Head of People & Culture and was a partner-equivalent in a tier 2 global professional services firm leading change and people-related initiatives for commercial and government clients. Philippa has a Master of Business Administration, a Graduate Diploma of Adult Basic Education, a Bachelor of Business Administration, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Technology.
