Summary
Professor Peter Lee is a highly experienced senior executive with a distinguished career leading large organisations in complex stakeholder environments. Known for his combination of technical expertise and deep understanding of human and organisational dynamics, he has advised corporate, government, and non-government sectors.
He served as Vice-Chancellor of Southern Cross University for seven years, following senior roles at the University of South Australia, Curtin University, Murdoch University, and the University of Queensland. He has held positions on numerous corporate, university, research, and government boards, including Universities Australia, where he chaired the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
An engineer by training, Professor Lee is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and of Engineers Australia. He was named among Australia’s most influential engineers for 13 consecutive years and awarded the Centenary Medal for services to Australian society. His expertise spans industries including chemicals, petrochemicals, agriculture, mineral processing, advanced materials, food, pharmaceuticals, software development, and biotechnology.
Professor Lee holds a Bachelor of Engineering from RMIT, a PhD from Monash University, and an Honorary Doctor of Laws from Monash University. He is the author of four books and over 270 journal papers.
Through his consultancy, he provides services to government and international organisations, including the United Nations Development Organisation. He currently chairs the Board of Directors of the Australian College of Physical Education and the Liverpool Football Club (UK) International Academy Australia.
